Oil painting is its own beast. It can be playful and fun or down right frustrating. In this course, Mark will show how to work with the medium instead of against it, so you will feel more comfortable in picking up the brush when you start your next painting.

On the first day we will be focusing on painting a single, well lit object so you learn how to see artistically, and understand light, value, color and drawing with paint. On the second you will work from your own photographs, allowing you to further explore the aspects discussed with your own work. Mark will discuss a simple painting approach, along with brushwork and paint viscosity, in order to make the entire painting process easier and more fun. The workshop will include lectures, demonstrations, individual painting time, and personalized instruction to promote your artistic growth.
