Contact The Artist About This Artwork

Often with plein air events you have to go to specific spots so collectors and admirers can get to see you work. This is a blessing, as I think people don't just purchase their connection to the art, but also to the artist.  This painting was done at Fram Club in the Leelanau region. When I first got to the location, I wandered around trying to figure out what to paint. I didn't want to challenge and embarrass myself in front of a bunch of people if the painting didn't work out, so I wanted to paint something more familiar to me. But I struggled to find a composition or scene that interested me.  I also know it is the responsibility of the artist to find the poetry in the everyday. And that's what this painting represents to me. I liked the shape of the main tree and I wanted to contrast that with the clouds angling the opposite direction, which they were doing. I think it's a nice little piece that reminds me to continue to see the art in everything.
